As the following document, which has just been released, is so important, I am again making a post without major commentary.
Arts-Society-Outcomes-of-Change-ProposalFollowing consultation – always a problematic word when it comes to UTAS management (among whom predetermined outcomes tend to be the go) – I understand that 12 out of 13 staff positions are still being axed, and the 13th remains subject to a further process.
Under this plan for redundancies, and other changes, UTAS will no longer support a strong programme in the core disciplines of History, Philosophy, Sociology, Politics, Literature, Languages, or the Creative Arts, and consequently will be unable to attract high quality staff in these areas.Â
Where they can, Tasmanian students will move or take up on-line options at mainland universities.
Along with its determination to continue moving to the the CBD, UTAS management will kill the University as a quality institution that Tasmanians can be proud of.
